Matt, I've successfully used both the Belkin model 'F5U109' and an IOGear model 'GUC232A'. The Belkin F5U109 is sold as a PDA adapter, but it works fine as a regular USB/RS-232 adapter using the 'mct_u232' kernel module. There was a problem with writing data to (but not reading data from) an RS-232 device that didn't assert the 'CTS' signal (like my Garmin GPS-35 TracPak GPS receiver), but my patches (which have been in the 2.4.x and 2.6.x kernels for several months now) fixed that. In case it matters, I run Slackware 9.1. Good luck!
