Thanks for your replies,
I must have done something to kill the ehci driver, once I rebooted it worked as normal...even removing and inserting the ehci module didnt seem to fix it until the reboot....


Thanks again, I should know to try a reboot before posting about errors :) If it happens again ill try work out what I was doing when it died and post some details

What is in your log files when your usb HCI drivers get loaded and when
you plug in your device? Does /proc/interupts increase for the line with
ehci on it?

Stephen is right, your entry is missing three lines for the Manufacturer, Product, and SerialNumber.

To get more information about what's going on, turn on the USB debugging in your kernel's configuration and look at the system log or dmesg output for the time when the ehci-hcd driver is loaded.



The reason is pretty simple here. There is no EHCI driver loaded in the kernel, and the USB 2.0 hub in the listing is an external USB 2.0 hub, which obviously has to run at 12MBps, because it's driven by an UHCI controller.

Fix: Load the ehci-hcd driver.
