Hi. I recently set up a SGI Origin 350 that only has a serial console output. It also has a port for the L1 console which, I think, is nothing more than a serial console over USB. I have a linux server right next to it in the rack, and I would like to try accessing the L1 console over the USB port from the my Linux system. I've already connected a USB cable, and can see the SGI in the output from lsusb. My goal is to be able to access the console of the SGI by ssh-ing to the Linux server (In case the SGI goes down and I need to acces the console)
Can I connect to this console over USB using cu or telnet, or do I need to use another utility? How do I know which usb device to connect to? The relevant line of output from lsusb is Bus 001 Device 007: ID 065e: 1234 Silicon Graphics Prentice *************************************************************************** The contents of this communication are intended only for the addressee and may contain confidential and/or privileged material.
