hi folks,
i'm actually busy trying to get my new scanner working. It's a debian
box,
kernel 2.6.8.1 with (of course) libusb. I tried sane with snapscan
backend
and got it configured until the scanner was recognized; here's what

scanimage -L says:

device `snapscan:libusb:002:002' is a EPSON EPSON Scanner1 flatbed
scanner

So far, so good. But as soon as i start an application (xscanimage,
xsane,
whatever) i can wait for about 2 minutes until an error message comes
out:
"Error opening device"
The led of the scanner keeps flashing for minutes. When i
"cat /proc/bus/usb/devices" it hangs for about 30 seconds before any
data
is dumped. After some minutes the flashing stops and i can access the
usb
bus without delay.
All this seems to me like a usb problem, not so much a sane problem.
Any hint would be greatly appreciated.
