Can anyone recommend a usb2.0 pcmcia card that would work with linux? I
have an older laptop that only has 2 usb1.0 ports.

I bought one that claimed to work with linux but it just locks up my
laptop (dell inspiron 8200) running fc1 kernel 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl. The
system logs says the following after I eject the card:

cs: socket f6f1b800 timed out during reset. Try increasing setup_delay.

I own a Belkin F5U222 (PCMCIA-2xUSB2) for months, and no problem except
oops when I unplug it. The fix (as root): `modprobe -r usb-ohci
ehci-hcd`then I can unplug it safely. HTH!

David,

It would be helpful/useful (think of the archives and future searchers) for you to post the manufacturer and model number (and/or the USB Vendor/Product ID reported by 'cat /proc/bus/usb/devices') of the PCMCIA card which did not work, to serve as a warning to others.

I'd be glad to if I could figure it out. The only thing it says on the card is PCB-U22 same for the nice box it came in. I assume it's OEM'm from someone but I don't know how to find out. Since it locks up my machine until I eject it there isn't anything useful in /proc/bus/usb/devices.

Even better, I humbly request that both you guys make an entry (negative, positive, whatever) for your respective devices at the website which tracks Linux USB working/non-working devices:

  http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/

I just checked that website for the 'F5U222' and cannot find anything about it. It's always nice to know (before purchase) what hardware to expect good/
bad things from, and entries to that site can only help others in the future.
