Hello Hasse,

I've read in a Linux magazine today that the Logitech Quickcam Express would
work (I have no idea about the prices though), requiring an external module.
The Logitech Quickcam Messenger would /not/ work.

Also the Philips PCVC720K/00, Kensington VideoCam 67016 and Creative PD0040
would work, and the Philips PCVC840K and PCVC 740K would work if you compile
en external module yourself. Sweex Mini Webcam would work as well, but V4L2
apps are not readily available.

Stay away from Aiptek Pencam Ultra (freezes your system), Logitech Quickcam
Messenger, Trust 360 USB 2.0 Spacecam, Creative WebCam Instant, Creative
WebCam Live! and Sweex Webcam USB2.0.

General remarks: not every Linux distribution will give the same results and
of course the kernel version and parameters in use can make a world of
difference, as we can see by the messages in this forum. Furthermore, some
applications will work whereas other applications will not work with the
same hardware/software setup.

So the answer is: it depends.
Check www.qbik.ch/usb/devices if you see something you like.

Best regards,
Edward

Hi

I would like to buy a web cam. I saw that the phillips driver developer
has stopped working on it (that is such a pitty)

Does anyone have any good suggestions of a good qulity webcam with a
price tag under about 175$

Please cc me on answer I am not a subscriber

Thanks. But doesn't some of the logitechs use the phillips driver. What I would like is a camera with quality like the phillips or Logitech Qiuckcam 4000 pro. Anyone know of such a camera not depending of the phillips driver?

/Hasse
