I don't know about your particular controller or motherboard. The ehci_hcd module is _not_ experimental. It has been widely used for a long time and is generally quite reliable. Try doing this: Instead of rmmod ehci_hcd, rename the module code file /lib/modules/2.6.10/kernel/drivers/usb/host/ehci-hcd.ko to something else, so that it will never be loaded in the first place.
