This isn't a problem with usb-storage or the Linux USB stack at all; it's a bug in one of the daemons running on your system. Maybe hald or gpilot. Try killing processes like that until the device starts working again.

You're right, Killing the Hal daemon solves the problem, any suggestions on what type of
information i should provide when submitting a bug report on Hal?
