When I plug in my external USB-connected dvd630e to my 2.6.9-gentoo-r13
system I see the following:

It looks like it is trying to access the device as a hard disk. When I
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices hangs for a bit and then returns the attached
output. I have attached it since it has strange non-printable characters
in it. At this point I see the following errors in dmesg:

usb 4-3: control timeout on ep0in
usb 4-3: control timeout on ep0in
