When I plug in my external USB-connected dvd630e to my 2.6.9-gentoo-r13 system I see the following:

When I cat /proc/bus/usb/devices hangs for a bit and then returns the attached output. I have attached it since it has strange non-printable characters in it. At this point I see the following errors in dmesg: usb 4-3: control timeout on ep0in usb 4-3: control timeout on ep0in usb 4-3: control timeout on ep0in usb 4-3: control timeout on ep0in usb 4-3: control timeout on ep0in usb 4-3: control timeout on ep0in usb 4-3: control timeout on ep0in usb 4-3: control timeout on ep0in Here are my USB kernel options: CONFIG_USB_IRDA=m CONFIG_BT_HCIUSB=m CONFIG_BT_HCIBFUSB=m CONFIG_USB=y CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS=y CONFIG_USB_DYNAMIC_MINORS=y CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND=y CONFIG_USB_EHCI_HCD=m CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD=m CONFIG_USB_UHCI_HCD=m CONFIG_USB_PRINTER=y CONFIG_USB_STORAGE=m CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_DEBUG=y CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_RW_DETECT=y CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_DATAFAB=y CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_DPCM=y CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_SDDR09=y CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_SDDR55=y CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_JUMPSHOT=y CONFIG_USB_HID=m CONFIG_USB_HIDINPUT=y CONFIG_USB_EGALAX=m CONFIG_USB_MDC800=m CONFIG_USB_CYTHERM=m CONFIG_USB_PHIDGETSERVO=m I will also add the obligatory disclaimer that it works well under Windows XP.
