Hi Alan, Ok, here are a couple more data points: I got hold of a usb2 pccard, and it works perfectly with the Lyra, transferred ~3G with neither a single error nor retry. The second is that I did the unthinkable and fired up XP, and the built in hardware sort of works - for a while - then the link dies... looks like the hardware is suspect, or at least needs some special TLC. Time to get in contact time Dell technical support to see if they know anything generic, if they would let on. I can't quite see it being a single machine failure - else why would uhci work without a hitch? Bu you never know. Under the circumstances, it may be better to put this one aside until I find out a bit more. I will try the 2.6.11 driver, and see what Dell says. Thanks for your assistance so far. BTW are there any other problems reported by Dell users?
