Hello,
I've got a Best Data Products 56USBP modem which /proc/bus/usb/devices identifies as being from Conexant Systems. Anyway this modem would not work with my 2.6.10-ac12 kernel until I found two patches online which are now in 2.6.11. I applied these and one of them made it work.
USB: another workaround for cdc-acm
USB: CDC ACM module and Zoom 2985 modem
Things work almost perfectly after this. The only problem is when I disconnect from the internet and try to reconnect later it won't dial. Wvdial tries to reset the modem but doesn't get a response. The only way I've found to fix this is to unplug the modem from the USB port and plug it back in. I don't know if unloading and reloading the module would be enough because in this case I have it built into the kernel.
Later I found and applied this third patch.
USB: fix for open/disconnect race in acm Maybe it's my imagination but the problem doesn't happen every time like before. Still often
enough to be annoying though.
What if anything can I do to fix this problem?
By the way, in searching the archives for this I found an old message for volunteers to test ACM patches. If volunteers are still wanted, I would be willing to help.
Thanks. Justin Ekis
