I need a passthrough of Axis711 headset (labtec) to Win98SE
using vmware. I don't understand much of USB, please help:
(Using Suse 9.2, kernel 2.6.8)

*The headset is recognized by Win98/vmware but not working. I don't
hear any sound. I installed linguatec-software (speech
recognition, IBM) an the installation programm asks for
calibrating the loudness ... but I don't hear anything :-(

*The headset is recognised by Suse 9.2 and at least speaker
is working (don't know microphone). In this state win98
claims that the resouce is occupied by aother processs.
  I renamed snd_usb_audio, snd_usb_lib and usbhid
  (i.e. snd-usb-audio.ko, snd-usb-lib.ko and usbhid.ko) in
  /lib to snd-usb-audio.ko_, snd-usb-lib.ko_ and usbhid.ko_
and now Win98/vmware was detecting the USB-headset.
BTW: putting the modules snd_usb_audio, snd_usb_lib and usbhid
in /etc/hotplug/blacklist didn't work, I think because of
alsasound. Alsasound loads the modules itself)
Did I make a fault here?

*BTW: I recognized that the modules snd_usb_audio, snd_usb_lib and
usbhid are loaded when plugging in the headset in Suse 9.2

 *Using this USB-headset I don't need the /dev/dsp, right? - The
linguatec installation programm instructs to plug in microphone
into sound card. The installation program is not up to date!
Perhaps sound tries to connect to /dev/dsp an not to the
  USB device?

*Do I have a problem with rights, perhaps? Which device does
the headset have in Linux? How can I detect it?

*A fundamental question: has USB of linux to run if I want to
work with USB in win98/vmware? - I don't need any USB on the
linux machine, but on Win98/vmware. Can I turn off hotplug?
(rchotplug stop , i.e. insserv -r hotplug on Suse 9.2)

Perhaps disabling the recognition of the headset in some
*.usermap? Where can I find the "0672:1041" of the headset?
I searched within /etc/hotplug and subdirectories with grep,
  but I don't find anything ...
