Way back in October 2004, I wrote this list to comment on my inability to get USB to recognize my iRiver MP3 player. I'd get it to mount once, but then I'd run into problems along the lines of "mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda" when I attempted the next mount. The only solution I'd found was to rmmod the mod_sd module and try to remount.

Since then I've moved to Linux version 2.6.9, and I've had no problems getting the iRiver to hotplug and mount properly. I've written a hotplug script and a short explanation on how to get the hotplug script up and running, which may be found here: <http://www.disaggregate.com/blog/technicalweblog/archives/000011.html>.

Hope this helps others. I've found the hotplug documentation in general to be rather... sparse.
