!---------!---------!---------!---------!---------!---------!--------- I am having trouble with the particular combination of a VIA VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller in my laptop and a TASCAM US-122 MIDI/Audio interface.
The VIA controller works fine with my MP3 player (which acts as a USB storage device), Palm and flash reader/writer. The US-122 works fine on the USB2.0 card in my desktop PC. As far as I know the US-122 is a USB1.1 device and when working correctly on my desktop PC it connects to the UHCI companion controller rather than the EHCI USB2.0 controller. The laptp demonstrates the problem with kernel 2.6.10 and 2.6.11 and I have not tried any other versions. The US-122 works with kernel 2.6.11 on the desktop and both desktop and laptop are running hotplug 200403. Here is the typical set of messages logged in syslog upon connecting the US-122 to the laptop: Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: state 5 ports 2 chg fffc evt 0002 Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid kernel: uhci_hcd 0000:00:11.3: port 1 portsc 0493,00 Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: port 1, status 0109, change 0001, 12 Mb/s Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid kernel: uhci_hcd 0000:00:11.3: wakeup_hc Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: debounce: port 1: total 100ms stable 100ms status 0x109 Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2 Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: new device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=0 Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: hotplug Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid usb.agent[4783]: tascam_fw: loaded successfully Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: adding 2-1:1.0 (config #1, interface 0) Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1:1.0: hotplug Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: state 5 ports 2 chg fffc evt 0002 Mar 15 14:11:15 alfroid /etc/hotplug/usb/tascam_fw: load /usr/local/share/alsa/firmware/usx2yloader/us122fw.ihx for 1604/8006/100 to /proc/bus/usb/002/002 Mar 15 14:11:16 alfroid kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: state 5 ports 2 chg fffc evt 0002 Mar 15 14:11:16 alfroid kernel: uhci_hcd 0000:00:11.3: port 1 portsc 048a,00 Mar 15 14:11:16 alfroid kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: port 1, status 0108, change 0003, 12 Mb/s Mar 15 14:11:16 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: USB disconnect, address 2 Mar 15 14:11:16 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: usb_disable_device nuking all URBs Mar 15 14:11:16 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: unregistering interface 2-1:1.0 Mar 15 14:11:16 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1:1.0: hotplug Mar 15 14:11:16 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: unregistering device Mar 15 14:11:16 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: hotplug Mar 15 14:11:16 alfroid kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: debounce: port 1: total 100ms stable 100ms status 0x108 Mar 15 14:11:17 alfroid kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: state 5 ports 2 chg fffc evt 0002 Mar 15 14:11:17 alfroid kernel: uhci_hcd 0000:00:11.3: port 1 portsc 0493,00 Mar 15 14:11:17 alfroid kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: port 1, status 0109, change 0001, 12 Mb/s Mar 15 14:11:17 alfroid kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: debounce: port 1: total 100ms stable 100ms status 0x109 Mar 15 14:11:18 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3 Mar 15 14:11:18 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: new device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=0 Mar 15 14:11:18 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: hotplug Mar 15 14:11:18 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1: adding 2-1:1.0 (config #1, interface 0) Mar 15 14:11:18 alfroid kernel: usb 2-1:1.0: hotplug Mar 15 14:11:18 alfroid kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: state 5 ports 2 chg fffc evt 0002 Mar 15 14:11:18 alfroid kernel: snd-usb-usx2y 2-1:1.0: usb_probe_interface Mar 15 14:11:18 alfroid kernel: snd-usb-usx2y 2-1:1.0: usb_probe_interface -
