Here's two pieces of advice:  First, use a current kernel like 2.6.11 -- 
not something as old as 2.6.4.  Second, try sending your problem to 
someone who maintains the driver for the PL2303 devices, such as Greg KH 
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
