Hi Alan,

At this moment I do not have access to another USB hub.
We are in the process of upgrading to Linux 2.6.

What we'll do for now is use two switches. The keyboard on one and the
mouse on the other. This setup works whether I use the switch or I
unplug/plug back the devices.

My guess is that the problem with the initial setup lies with the ehci-hcd
driver. This other setup is using usb-uhci driver.
