Alan,

I've recompiled and restarted with the debug on. While there is lots of
debug output during startup, there is no extra output when the problem
is occuring. I wonder if this is actually a problem in the scsi stack
since cdrecord behaves the same under both firewire and usb. cdrecord
hangs for >100s then reports scsi sendcmd retryable error (or something
like that). Furthermore, once the usb attached burner starts
misbehaving, it seems like maybe the scsi stack gets hosed because my
firewire attached hard drive starts throwing errors and gets
disconnected. A reboot is always required. Again, all this worked fine
under RH9/2.4.

A note about the output here: I grep'ed for kernel since all the debug
messages seem to be kernel: . Also, the SCSI errors at the bottom are
when I try to erase my cd-rw with cdrecord -v -dev=0,0,0 -speed=4 -
blank=all.
