Its not only outdated Valerie, but a huge security risk due to its 
version of bind if its exposed to the internet.  Rootkits abound that 
attack that.  I helped clean one of them up way back then.

You could build a newer kernel that may have support for your gismo, 
but I think you would have to move to a 2.6.11 or newer.  And that 
probably would lead to other incompatibilities.  Please consider 
updateing again.
