I have a project where I'm working on an embedded computer that I communicate with through a Prolific PL-2303 serial to USB converter. That's been working great for me.
I just got a Creative Webcam Notebook, and it's working fine with the spca5xx module I compiled from Michel Xhaard's website. However, if I load the webcam modules, the serial adapter no longer works. the only thing that even comes close to looking like a related anecdote is that when spca5xx loads, /var/log/messages says someone's complaining that it's tainting the kernel. This is on SuSE 9.2 with the 2.4.21-291-athlon kernel. Is there a likely cause for this? Is there a likely source of more info? The reason this is important is that my company (http://www.agilerules.com) is going to be doing a presentation on doing software development on embedded single board computers, which we need to talk to using a serial port. We want to use the webcam to show a picture of what's happening on the board as we run the program. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the 'Do More With Dual!' webinar happening July 14 at 8am PDT/11am EDT.
