Nevermind people, I solved it. The 2.6.10 kernel with the USB-STORAGE
/ HP 82XX option actually does work. I successfully burned a 650mb
disc at 4x. So the problem lies in the USBAT02 driver. I guess they
figured nobody has these burners anymore, and neglected to test the
driver with them. I, for one still do. I guess I could consider
myself a beta tester.

I believe the problem with the USBAT02 driver is the fact that it
can't differentiate between an 8200 burner and a Compact Flash card
reader. Of course I could be wrong. For anyone else who might google
this mail archive, the best way to solve this issue is to downgrade to
the 2.6.10 kernel and use the EXPERIMENTAL USB-STORAGE/HP 82XX
driver. Good luck.

Respectfully,
Shawn Haworth
