Hi Greg, I've just bought a Nokia CA-42 USB to serial cable. This has been reported to work in the past but I haven't had any luck with it. See the comment by Spiros Kapotas here.
http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/showdev.php?id=3251 I ran modprobe vendor=07d0 product=4101. He says that a /dev/ttyUSBX node should just appear but I don't get this. I'm using udev. I tried creating the node manually but I couldn't get Gammu to do anything. Interestingly, the USB ID he mentions is 0421:0802 while mine is 07d0:4101. It's also be worth mentioning that there's a sticker on the cable's box that says "V2 CA-42". Perhaps this V2 cable is different? Here's the output from /proc/bus/usb/devices...
