Hi Greg,

I've just bought a Nokia CA-42 USB to serial cable. This has been
reported to work in the past but I haven't had any luck with it. See
the comment by Spiros Kapotas here.

http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/showdev.php?id=3251

I ran modprobe vendor=07d0 product=4101. He says that a /dev/ttyUSBX
node should just appear but I don't get this. I'm using udev. I tried
creating the node manually but I couldn't get Gammu to do anything.
Interestingly, the USB ID he mentions is 0421:0802 while mine is
07d0:4101. It's also be worth mentioning that there's a sticker on the
cable's box that says "V2 CA-42". Perhaps this V2 cable is different?

Here's the output from /proc/bus/usb/devices...

T: Bus=03 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 9 Spd=1.5 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=07d0 ProdID=4101 Rev= 0.00
S: Manufacturer=Kingsun Semiconductor
S: Product=USB to Serial
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=80 MxPwr=100mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=(none)
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 8 Ivl=1ms
E: Ad=02(O) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 8 Ivl=1ms

And here's the kernel output...
