Hi Debian users,
I'm using debian testing, kernel 2.6.7 on an IBM T41 laptop.
I have a Sony digital camera with a 256 MB Memory Stick Pro. To read
this, I have been using this a usb device: PNY Memory Stick reader. This
has enabled me to mount the stick as an external drive with the
following line in /etc/fstab
/dev/fatflash /memorystick vfat rw,user,noauto
0 0
and then just typing
mount /memorystick
and up until a week or so ago, this worked like a charm.
But now I get the following error
mount: /dev/fatflash is not a valid block device
and typing "dmesg| grep usb" gives me
usbcore: registered new driver usbfs
usbcore: registered new driver hub
usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using address 2
usb 4-4: device not accepting address 2, error -71
usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using address 3
usb 4-4: device not accepting address 3, error -71
usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using address 4
usb 4-4: device not accepting address 4, error -71
usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using address 5
usb 4-4: device not accepting address 5, error -71
usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using address 6
usb 4-4: device not accepting address 6, error -71
usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using address 7
usb 4-4: device not accepting address 7, error -71
usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using address 8
usb 4-4: device not accepting address 8, error -71
usb 4-4: new high speed USB device using address 9
usb 4-4: device not accepting address 9, error -71
.........
and so on.
This is a recent development as I was just using this a few weeks
ago. I don't update every day, but I have updated prior to this change.
Anybody have any ideas?
