Actually I burned 2 music CDs a while ago, and it happened successfully (didn't tried data, but it's the same burning process so I won't do that until needed).
So for my HP 8200 cd-writer plus everything is OK now with the patch to detect it. And it looks like it burns just OK. I didn't notice any problem so I'd guess this device is not affected by any other bug, unless some more stress to the device is required... On a side note for other owners, cdrecord doesn't work for this device, but it hadn't ever since kernel 2.6.10, or even before. And even other IDE cd writers stopped working with cdrecord after kernel 2.6.11 (my office's laptop one did). I'd strongly suggest using cdrdao for both data and audio (just in case you experience problems with cdrecord)... A final question. Which linux kernel is supposed to be released with this patch already applied? I ask so I know when I must not apply it, since on any new kernel I compile, I'll apply it, but eventually I must not. Thanks a lot, Javier. On 7/30/05, Javier-Elias Vasquez-Vivas <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > With this last patch I'm able to mount a cd and browse through the > entire CD...
