In my original email I think I detailed the answers to all of your
questions, including pointing to logs etc.
Anyway, I am still trying to debug this myself. This last mail about
2.6.7 was to show my progress finding the regression - I do realize
developers generally care only about the latest kernel.

What I currently know:
On one machine, all devices I tried worked on all kernels I tried.
On the other, one device works with all kernels I tried except
2.6.14-rc3, and one device does not work with any kernel newer than
2.6.7.
I now tried 2.6.8-rc1 and it still works with it. I will try also
2.6.8-rc{2,3,4} to see when it stopped working. Then I might try to look
at this last patch that broke it and figure out what is the problem.

However, I have very little experiece with kernel programming and zero
knowledge about this hardware (usb, usb-storage, sd-mod, etc.). So if
you still want to help me and can get more info than me by looking at
the logs, please do. Repeating some of my first message:

All of this is with 2.6.14-rc3, config file at
<http://www.cs.tau.ac.il/config-2.6.14-rc3-my1>
The said device works on machine A (a matsonic MSCLE266-F). Logs when
inserting it are at
<http://www.cs.tau.ac.il/kernA.log>
It does not work on machine B (GigaByte K8VM800M). Logs when inserting
it are at
<http://www.cs.tau.ac.il/kernB.log>

Thanks for your reply,
