Hi!
I asked this of linux-usb-devel, also:
I have acquired a PCMCIA CardBus USB2.0 controller. It came with a power
cable whose one end plugs into the fat part of the card that sticks out
and has the USB plugs on it, and the other end plugs into a USB port.
I plugged everything in (the card into the PCMCIA slot and the power
adaptor as described above).
I tested a USB 1.1 pegasus 10/100 network card, and it worked.
I tested a Genesys USB 2.0 HDD and it didn't work. The ehci-powered
controller shows up in usbview, however, when I plug the HDD into it, a
branch describing the HDD does not appear, and neither does anything
appear in the syslog or dmesg.
The lspci -vv -xxx entry corresponding to the controller is:

Now, this doesn't say that it is a VT6202 controller, however, the
Windoze driver CD that came with the PCMCIA card has a directory called
VT6202 on it, and it is the only directory for a Via USB 2.0 controller
on the CD. Now, http://www.linux-usb.org/usb2.html does warn one to
"Avoid the VT6202 cards", however, being now stuck with what appears to
be exactly a VT6202, I would like to ask:
1. Is the above indeed a VT6202 ?
2. Is there any chance this card will work with Linux (in the
foreseeable future) ?
I am running kernel 2.6.13.2 (vanilla).
Thanks for any information you can give me !
