I have seen much equipment discussed here but am getting no replies
on problems using a Yamaha RP U100 receiver. It connects to my
pc with a USB wire to give software control for on/off, volumes
and a variety of functions through the software included for
Windows. I am using Windows 98SE. I want to move all my
apps and hardware over to Linux but the Yamaha is a real
stumbling block to doing so.

I have made the kudzu printout and it sees some Yamaha stuff but
more are not recognized.

The goal is to find USB 1.1 generic software 'switches' and controls
to have it behave as it is doing in 98SE.

On my Linux install of Simply Mepis there seems to be a conflict
between what's going on on USB and my soundcard output to the
Yamaha. The Soundcard is a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz which uses the
CS46xx driver.

I've had 2 variations on soundcard errors: kmix, alsamixer etc.
visible and working with no sound Or sound for system notifications,
xmms, streaming audio with RealPlayer10Gold but _no software volume_ control.

There must be a solution at least to the volume control
issue.
