i think that you must use udev, its work for me.
 i have two devices a sony camera and mp3 player (both use usb_storage)
 i create two files:
 /etc/udev/rules.d/01_camara.rules
 BUS="usb",SYSFS{idVendor}="054c",SYSFS{idProduct}="0010",NAME="%k",SYMLINK=
"camara%1" ,GROUP="camera"

 /etc/udev/rules.d/02_pendrive.rules
 BUS="usb",SYSFS{idVendor}="10d6",SYSFS{idProduct}="1100",NAME="%k",SYMLINK=
"pendrive%1" ,GROUP="disk"

 and i can use in my fstab:
 /dev/camara     /media/camara   vfat    defaults,user,noauto    0       0
 /dev/pendrive   /media/pendrive vfat    defaults,user,noauto    0       0

 in fact, the devices are that names always, i can mount/umount /dev/camara
 or /dev/pendrive.

 pd:the value of idVendor and idProduct are in the device information
 on /sys/bus/usb/

 Saludos!
