I don't know.  From the error reports it's hard to tell exactly what's 
going wrong.  It could be a power issue, or it could be something else.  
For instance, adding a hub will change the signal-to-noise ratio of the 
USB data signals and might also affect clock jitter.

Those could be caused by bad cables or by something else.

Are you talking about the atkbd.c messages?  Those have nothing to do with 
usb-storage; they refer to your keyboard.  The last message, about the 
disconnect, means exactly what it says: the device was disconnected, 
either physically (by unplugging the cable) or electronically.
