I am going to but....
I read your bugzilla post and I insist that the sync option did work in the
older kernels. I dont know about performance degredation, but I just wanted to
know that when KDE's status bar said I was done copying, I was... And I did
that yesterday with the SanDisk device and was getting 700K/sec with the Sync
option. Wierd.
I told you that the VFAT filesystem driver's implementation of "sync" has
changed. The old implementation worked reasonably well with flash devices
and the new one doesn't.
And before you ask me why they changed something that was working... The
answer is that the old implementation was incorrect. So they fixed it.
