Hello, and thanks for having a list where my question isn't off-topic. :) I'm trying to get a Yealink USB-B2K USB-to-RJ11 box working on an old laptop. My intent is to harness it for running Skype and delivering VoIP connections to the house phone lines (yes, I read LJ :)).
I'm trying to install SkypeMate, but it complains there's no USB VoIP device attached to the computer. On my other laptop it's recognized properly. The only difference I can see with udevmonitor between these computers is, that on the Skype laptop I don't get any class/usb/hiddev* in sysfs. I've enabled all kernel (2.6.18.1) settings that I believe are relevant, including HID device, HID input layer, and raw HID device support. In addition to that, I have usbfs and USB mass storage enabled (I can read and write USB sticks), but I don't think those are relevant to my problem. All options are in-built, so this can't be because of a module not loading. Since I've configured the Skype laptop's kernel to be as minimal as possible, my best guess is that I've missed some feature that is essential to HID but not obvious (and probably not in the USB config section, because that's practically identical with the other, working laptop's config). There are only two differences that still come to mind which I haven't explored. My newer (working) laptop has an EHCI as well as an UHCI controller, the Skype machine has only UHCI. Also the newer one has 2.6.17.11 kernel. (Gasp - could it be that I can't use a VoIP box in a non-USB2 port?)
