That's a windows driver. From the README.TXT inside it:

This WinXP nForce (MCP55) driver package consists of the following components:

SMBUS Driver (v4.57) "WHQL"
Installer (v5.05)

Now let's assume this driver update flashes microcode in some chip
under windows so that it fixes the issue under all OS's, but if you
read farther down the page one guy did try this but it failed:

 jbquenot  says:

"Does it solve your problem on Linux too? I was advised to install
this driver from the Dell support, but the mouse still freezes on
Linux, so I guess the recommended update is a Windows-specific driver
update, not a firmware update."

Then on page 5 the same guy donnyr3 says:

"The driver I downloaded from Dell's web site is Windows specific, and
only solves the mouse problem under Windows, not Linux."

Another guy NRios claims 2.6.18.2 fixes it but I tried that kernel and
I still have the same problem. Others have tried newer kernels with
the same results.
