Well, as a matter of fact, /dev/sda1 did work better with previous kernels 
(although it wasn't what I'd call "working"), but not any more: ``mount -t 
vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/stick'' fails with
mount: special device /dev/sda1 does not exist
and there's nothing new in /var/log/messages . It looks like somebody's 
working on something and hasn't quite finished yet. :-( I suppose I can buy 
another stick - are there any models known to work with Linux?
