I have two different devices that use a 04b4:5500 Cypress Semiconductor Chip (HID->COM RS232 Adapter). With version 2.6.10 of Linux there were slight issues with these devices crashing when the cable was unplugged but we could read and communicate -- just not disconnect ;).
To support a new version of our hardware we are upgrading to the 2.6.14-rc3 kernel but this version won’t communicate with one of the devices at all and reports ‘drivers/usb/serial/cypress_m8.c: cypress_serial_control - failed sending serial line settings - -32’ Both devices have the same output from lsusb ☹ I’m cross-compiling to an arm system and using busybox. I have attempted to search Google but not knowing what to search for seems to make it difficult to find anything useful. I’m not sure what kind of information would be useful other than dumping dmesg, and my log. I would prefer not to do that unless it is necessary. Is this the right list to post in, if not, where? Is there a patch for this issue and how do I get it? Or even which version of the Kernel is it fixed in?
