I have been trying to install Linux onto a UK specification PS3, upgraded to the 1.60 firmware, using a Twiddler2 (www.handykey.com), a combined chording keyboard and TrackPoint mouse.
However, the Twiddler2 doesn't work either in the web browser under the PS3 OS or when attempting to respond to the 'kboot:' prompt when installing Linux. CELL-Linux-CL_20061110-ADDON.iso was used to obtain the boot environment. The Twiddler2 works well on another Linux system: gateway:/ # lsusb Bus 002 Device 012: ID 04b4:0101 Cypress Semiconductor Corp.
