That's interesting. The incremental patch from 2.6.17-git21 to 2.6.17-git22 doesn't make any significant changes to the USB stack other than adding support for suspending USB Bluetooth dongles. Do you use Bluetooth or have the hci_usb module loaded? There's a good chance that your problem isn't caused by anything in the USB stack, but rather by a change somewhere else. I can't tell where, though, since there's 1.7 MB of code changes between git21 and git22. It's possible for you to get hold of the individual patches between those two kernel versions, so you can try to figure out exactly which one was responsible for the problem. But it takes some work -- you will have to install Git and learn how to use it, then download the kernel history and use the "bisect" command.
