Okay, here are a couple of relevant paragraphs from the user manual:
"Images recorded with this camera and other data is stored on the
memory card using DCF (Design rule for Camera File System)
protocol. DCF protocol is designed to make it easier to exchange image
and other data between digital cameras and other devices".
"DCF devices (digital cameras, printers, etc) can exchange images with
each other. DCF protocol defines the format for image files data and
the directory structure for the memory card, so images can be viewed
using another manufacturer's DCF camera or printer on a DFC printer".
So, that does sound like a new file system. A quick search on google
and I found this: http://www.jeida.or.jp/committee/dcf/DCFe.html
As far as USB progress, I modprobe'd usb-storage, and plugged the
camera in (I have verbose scsi logging on -- but where does it log
to?), and 'cat /proc/scsi/scsi' does not list a new device.
However, there is a file '/proc/scsi/usbscsi0/1' which when cat'ed
gives:
Host scsi1: usb-storage
Vendor: Unknown Vendor
Product: Unknown Product
Protocol: Control/Bulk/Interrupt
GUID: 07cf10010000000000000000
I confess to being lost on how to figure out how to even try and mount
it. If it's an 'sd', is it 'a', 'b'? And what id?
'cat /proc/devices' lists the following, any of these look promising?:
Character devices:
1 mem
2 pty/m%d
3 pty/s%d
4 tts/%d
5 cua/%d
7 vcs
10 misc
14 sound
81 video_capture
128 ptm
136 pts/%d
162 raw
180 usb
Block devices:
2 fd
3 ide0
8 sd
9 md
22 ide1
43 nbd
65 sd
66 sd
Thanks.
