I am happy to report that using the 2.3.99-pre-3 kernel from
ftp.linux.org, USB is working perfectly from my Sony VAIO PCG 310. I
had to wait until I got a new PCMCIA network card before I could
download the kernel). I'm using it with usb-uhci.o and a Lexmark E310
printer and, so far, it just works.
A slightly off the track query though - if someone can point me to a
better place to ask:
in 2.2.13, pppd with a serial modem works. With 2.3.99-pre-3, it
doesn't - it appears to send packets but never recieve any. The serial
port works, dialing my ISP with kermit I can see the initial incoming
LCP packets, with pppd, no record of any packets appear. I assume
there's something else I need (recompiled pppd?) but a search on the
net mailing list archive didn't seem to find anything.
