Okay, its verified, there is a 64 byte header that
varies slightly between image capture sizes.
Some bytes in our current testing mode never varied,
they may during future control tweaking, but this round
of tests was to verify we understood the basic image
format.
There also appears to be "only" two chroma capture
modes, RGB555, and BW256 in the raw USB data format.
This will be verified as soon as we get the "actual"
capture H x W dimensions worked out. The color information
"might" be in YUV format.. but I'm seriously doubting it.
In fact, we have gone all the way and captured the USB
data and regenerated .xbm and .bmp files with it.
The BW images came out okay.
The color images have artifacts that may only be a result
of H x W alignment problems, and/or embedded chroma information.
We also discovered that no matter what resolution you
request to capture, the 3Com camera actually only
switches between one of three H x W capture modes.
Side effect of the Windows driver, or restriction of
the hardware within the camera?
We don't know.
FYI, this information is in regards to "driver"
resolutions:
128 x 96
160 x 120
176 x 144
352 x 288
320 x 240
640 x 320
mode 1280 x 960 is a synthesized mode, which
appears to capture at the same H x W pixel res.
that begins with 320 x 240
