Greetings claudio,
I was using gqcam-0.7.5. With the 2.3.99-pre5 kernel things were pretty
stable but the pictures were nothing to write home about. With the pre-6 and
2 patches from marks site, running gqcam took my system down hard with a lot
of disk corruption. fsch had a fielday on reboot (about 20 minutes of
repairs). I have been a little shy to try gqcam again and have reverted my
testing back to the -pre5 kernel. There is a possibility I did something
wrong with the -pre6 kernel and patches, but I didn't see any build
complaints. I also noticed that pre6 disk performance dropped
significantly... ie hdpara -tT /dev/hda showed about 1.5mb/s instead of
12mb/s. It was so bad in fact, that I couldn't play mps's without dropping
segments. The disk problem is not present in -pre5. I did not recompile
gqcam when I switched to -pre6, so if there were any header file changes or
interface changes, this may have caused a problem between the driver and the
app.
regards
Lawrence
