The patch should work unless you're also patching 2.2.16 with devfs
support and/or needs to be able to do suspend etc. (apm support).
As for the apm support a "patch" have been posted to this list that
makes apm work with the usb-uhci module, but not with the
"alternative" uhci module (not here at least). (I don't know how well
it goes with the ohci module). Regarding the collisions with the patch
for devfs support, it can be overcome with a little "editing" here and
there (mostly in the "./include/linux/" directory).
It would be nice if someone could find time to make a new backport
patch...
