I installed Linux SuSE 6.4 on my laptop (Compaq Presario 1277).
I had the kernel version 2.2.14. With this version my PCMCIA net card
works fine.
Because my sound card didn't work, I decided to download 2.3.99-pre9
kernel version and
recompile it.
I used the same SuSE scheme that I used with 2.2.14.
The sound card now works fine, at the bootstrap PCMCIA net card are
loaded (insmod works well
and lsmod shows that modules are used) as with 2.2.14, but don't work.
Maybe this problem's tied to another problem that I've in this kernel
release: when I reboot or halt the system it's impossible to umount
devpts (I already used Unix 98 ptys in 2.2.14 kernel version with no
problems) -->>> " Opss I could'nt umount devpts ...."
I know that maybe this problem description is not complete but I can
provide others informations if needed.
