The log doesn't provide enough information to tell what's wrong. You can get more information by using usbmon (see the instructions in the kernel source file Documentation/usb/usbmon.txt). It looks like the mp3 player is simply disconnecting itself. Maybe it isn't getting enough power, or maybe there's something wrong with the USB cable. Have you tried using the player with a different Linux computer?
