We use the PLX USB3380 here with the driver from the manufacturer. Their drivers are tested for a specific kernel but its not too hard to compile them using the latest kernels. We have got them to work in 3.13 with some changes in the module cleanup to keep it from crashing. Regarding functionality, it works as expected.
