Thinkpad T540p, kernel 4.4.
Writing a big file goes at an attrocious 440KB/s
Starting win7 in virtualbox on the same laptop, mounting the same stick
and doing the same copy, writes the same file at 23MB/s
Reading the file in virtualbox goes at 30MB/s
Reading the file in linux goes at 36MB/s (after echo 3 >
/proc/sys/vm/drop_caches)
GregKH recommended I try this:
legolas:~# cat /sys/class/block/sdc/device/max_sectors
240
legolas:~# echo 4096 > /sys/class/block/sdc/device/max_sectors
This made no difference in write speed.
Any idea what's going on and what should be done?
Note that I have this problem with all USB sticks, not just this one
stick.
Thanks,
Marc
