Hi all Re this whole thread: The CCC Public Library has fully installable copies of linux freely available for all who want them *already*. An installation CDROM comes with most of the books that they have on linux. there's quite a few of them now. most recent is "RH7.1 Unleashed" i think.
does nobody else around here ever use the place or something? reason i ask is some of these books go way way back to early early days and have been on (& off) the shelves ever since. re donating stuff to libraries: there is a well established procedure for doing this. walking in off the street and asking they to put one's gift on the shelves doesn't quite cut it. (just think of all the solipstic self published crud they'd be innundated with otherwise) But really all of the butt covering stuff about licenses and so on is quite irrelevant - they carry linux already and if people are serious about making boxed sets available thru the library then i'm sure this can be arranged. they're usually only too happy to be donated stuff. if you like i'll pursue this in a semi-official capacity as i have rather good relationship with some of the staff. yes - no ?? cheers peter PS: i don't work for them by the by .....
