I guess you probably could, provided you get the permissions/ownerships right at copy time. If you (or more likely me) were real tight on disk space, provided you knew where the RPM was going to install (can you find this out from rpm -q???) you could create the symlink and then do the install as per usual. I'm guessing you would have to use the install option that ignores lack of disk space? Paul.
