John i'd be wary of the genius card - without knowing what chipset it's using it's not possible to yay or nay it, but i've bitten a couple of times by some of their other stuff that people have given me to work with (scanners, video cards etc).
some of their gear works ok with linux BUT as soon as they start mucking about with it - making a genric thing proprietry - all sortsa complexities get introduced into the equation ..... not fun! as for the creative beast: i've been running a creative vibra128 pci sound card (chipset's the ensoniq es1371) since june last year without any problems at all. sweet as - especially so using the alsa drivers. so i'd be recommending that over the genius one :o) cheers peter ================================== On Mon, 12 Nov 2001 14:09:52 -0500 John Mallett <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi > > I am buying a new sound card.
