Hi,
Recently, since compiling nmap, I have been noticing that the switch port my
ADSL modem (Alcatel Speed Touch Home) is plugged into has been experiencing
collisions.

                           | h |
                           |______|

Originally this was occuring when I was using NetAnts to download things in
Win98se (ports 20,21 and 80) now even when broswing the web in IE 6 on
Win98se it has begun to give me collisions. And this morning I noticed
while downloading my email from pophost.canterbury.ac.nz I was getting
collisions. Thus far any traffic generated by wget on the Linux box has not
caused collisions, nor has traffic to/from apache on the Linux box or
to/from HalfLife on the Win98se box.

My question to the list is:
How do I diagnose what is causing the collisions?

(I have recently compilied my own kernel but the collisions were occuring
well and truely before I did this, the old kernel I was using was a stock
RedHat 2.4.7-10 from the 7.2 install CD's) If you feel this question is
more appropiately directed at NZ ADSL, it will promptly appear there.

Kernel 2.4.17
PPTP 1.0.3-1 (Used since I got ADSL)
PPP 2.4.1 (Used since I got ADSL)
IP Tables 1.2.5 (Since I compiled Kernel)

Thanks,

Mark Carey
