The problem is that Suse installs IPV6 networking entries into the 
configuration by default.
Mozilla has a problem with it's gethostbyname logic when dealing with IPV6.

You need to edit /etc/hosts and remove (or comment out) the IPV6 entries in 
there that relate to localhost.

You will then be able to access http://localhost.
