I'm involved with Indymedia Oz in Sydney, and going from that I think it'd be well worth having a look at Indymedia here. More specifically, I'm involved with cat-geek, who provide the system that indy runs on there. www.cat.org.au These are the guys who originally wrote the software and started the whole bundle. Gabe Kuiper who has been pretty instrumental in the thing is from Christchurch - she does more of the activism and people stuff, it's the geek core that do the Linux stuff. So in effect, sydney.indymedia.org are "using" a local Linux group to do the back end stuff, and it might be good to get that here. I say "using" in quote because there's a lot of cross over between the groups, and cat (community activist tech) was (I think) set up to provide a kind of clearing house for exactly this sort of thing. CLUG is not quite in the same business, but I think it matches the ethos to a degree. If you are curious, http://sydney.indymedia.org has a heap of information about IMC in general, and how in works in particular. The indymedia software is open source, http://sourceforge.net/projects/active/ Moz _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
